Unfortunately this year Sar-El is out of the question for me. My 11 yo daughter is with me the whole summer in Israel, and for Sar-El she would have to be 15 years old. This week I started to wonder is there something else we could do together while staying in there.Standing Together -organisation cheers up brave soldiers by delivering snacks, pizza, ice cream, clothing and other goodies for them. But the best thing smiling volunteers can offer are notes of support and gratitude from people all over the world. Ok - sounds good to me, so I sent them an email. I told who I am, what have I done before, what could I do this summer and why do I want to do that.
Next I received a heart warming phone call from Israel. They did welcome me to participate in their action in July. Just a day before Standing Together volunteers did pay a visit at the hospital where the heroic soldiers wounded in flotilla incident were! And the first letter they did read for them was my email from Finland. I never thought they would use that email on that purpose - but I'm really glad my words could make THOSE soldiers really happy. Now they know we support them. We are standing together!
I'm going to be in Israel for five weeks and if I have some interesting stuff to post here I will do that, even if it is not actually Sar-El related. Standing Together is planning a visit to soldiers on Egyptian border. Stay tuned! ;)
